We are writing to let you know that we are working towards the final surfacing works of the Springs/ Marshs roundabout.

To do this, Marshs Road East and Marshs Road West will be closed at the intersection with Springs Road for up to 5 nights during off-peak times - from 7pm to 6am.

During this time Springs Road will also be reduced, as required, to one lane with intermittent Stop/Go.

Marshs Road West traffic can detour either via Blakes or Halswell Junction Roads while Marshs East traffic can detour via Fountains and Hodgens Roads.

Road closure notice boards will be erected nearer the time to advise of the works.

This is an update to impacted residents advising the current one way system will be in place until the 21^st of July 2021 due to unforeseen impacts caused by the weather events over the weekend of the 29^th and 30^th of May and the ongoing poor weather conditions.

We are writing to let you know that we will be working to widen Blakes Road back towards the intersection of Hinterland/Cairnbrae Drives with Blakes Road. This work involves new shoulder construction to widen the existing road down as far as 46 Blakes Road where the new work will tie into the existing footpath and shoulder on the southern side of Blakes Road.

To do this, we will need to extend the one-way system for up to three weeks. This means:

• There will be a one-way system in place on Blakes Road for north-bound traffic from property number 46 Blakes Road up to the intersection with Shands Road.
• Carpenter Drive and Hazelnut Avenue residents are encouraged to use the Hinterland Drive entry/exit to avoid major route impacts.
• Aberdeen Road and Blakes Road residents from property #46 to #143 (Blakes Road) will need to detour via the north-bound Blakes Road one-way system to Shands Road and back to Trents Road and onto Springs Road.

We are writing to let you know that the Council will begin construction work from the week commencing 19 April 2021 on upgrading the Springs Road and Marshs Road intersection. This will involve beginning the main construction works on a new roundabout to help manage safety and traffic flows in the area.
During the construction works the following traffic management will be in place:

• Springs Road will have speed reductions in place to manage two-way traffic flows through the
  intersection with Marshs Road.
• There will be no entry into Marshs Road from Springs Road:
  o Access to Healthy Harvest and Egmont Commercial from Springs Road must detour down Hodgens Road > Fountains Road and back onto Marshs Road
  o Access to Waste Management, Texture Plants and Lush Lawns must detour down Trents Road / Halwells Junction Road > Shands Road and back onto Marshs Road'
• There will be a one-way systems in place for traffic on Marshs Road heading towards Springs Road
  from Marshs Road property #315 through the intersection to property #348.

Construction work will start from the week commencing 08 March 2021 on upgrading the Blakes Road and Shands Road intersection. This will involve beginning the main construction works on a new roundabout to help manage safety and traffic flows in the area.

We will also be widening Blakes Road from north west of Hinterland/Cairnbrae Drive, up to the intersection with Shands Road and installing a cycleway and minor changes to the road layout.

• During the construction works the following traffic management will be in place:
• Shands Road will have speed reductions in place to manage two-way traffic flows through the intersection with Blakes Road.
• There will be no entry into Blakes Road from Shands Road, traffic to detour down Trents Road.

Shands Blakes Roundabout

The Shands Blakes Roundabout is now complete and fully open.

There is a Temporary speed restriction in place of 60kph untill the permanent 60kph is approved by Selwyn District Council.

Some of landscape planting to be completed on the bund on the North East corner and some greening for cyclists which can only be applied at least a month after the asphalt has been laid.

Spring Marshs Roundabout

On the Springs Marshs Roundabout we are working very hard with a lot of crews to get this work complete by the end of November 2021. Traffic will soon be temporarily using the new alignment on the west side of the roundabout & the new Springs Road centreline while we dig out the east side.

Please remember there is a 30kph speed restriction in place while these works are being undertaken and we ask that you respect the 30kph speed for our workers and the general public safety on the site.

• As soon as the above has been completed we will construct the roundabout kerb, concrete apron & remaining splitter island & then complete the hotmix wearing course.
• Blakes Road West and the South side of Blakes East the Chipseal surface has been laid
• Currently working on north east footpath, table drains, swales & topsoiling of berms when weather suitable
• Approx. 50% of the street lights have been installed (although the luminaires are not yet available as they are sourced from Europe)

• Filling of the footpath on the west side of Springs has started to stabilise these areas from erosion.

Isaac Construction mobilised to site during the week commencing 01 March 2021 and now occupy the designated compound/laydown and site office spaces off Shands Road. We also installed the shoulder closures at both the Shands/Blakes and Springs/Marshs sites to make a start on the enabling works.

Enabling works started at both roundabout sites with Treetech making rapid progress across both roundabout sites by tree felling, chipping and stump grinding which has resulted in quite a different look at both the sites. The fencing has also started at both sites, with a large portion of the fencing having been completed at the Springs/Marshs site.

Drainage works were started on the Shands/Blakes site from week commencing 08 March 2021 and to date we have installed 2 large soak pits, as well as making a start on the road dig out on the southern side of the Shands/Blakes site.
