We're getting ready to install two new sets of traffic signals on Harewood Road, at the Breens Road and Gardiners Road intersection and outside Harewood School, which will improve safety for all road users.

We're also installing watermain and stormwater upgrades at these locations and minor safety improvements near Harewood School.

The first stage of work will begin on Monday 17 November 2025, at the Harewood Road, Breens Road, and Gardiners Road intersection, and will take place over approximately 5 weeks. During this time, we will begin work further up Harewood Road at Stanleys Road, Woolridge Road and Waimakariri Road.

The second stage of work will begin with a super week, 7 days of 24-hour work, from the evening of Sunday 4 January to the early morning of Monday 12 January 2026. The super week will see the full closure of the Harewood Road, Breens Road and Gardiners Road intersection, and will significantly reduce the duration of the work.

The final stage of work will continue from Monday 12 January under minor traffic management and will focus on finishing work such as line marking and traffic light commissioning. This work will take about a month to complete.
